Interview: Rarely Asked Questions – Dave Johns

Comedian Dave Johns has graciously found time in his hectic filming schedule to answer our Rarely Asked Questions. Since appearing in the award-winning Ken Loach film I, Daniel Blake, the genial comic's acting career has taken off. I doubt if you will ever meet anyone quite as down-to-earth as Johns. Success couldn't have happened to a lovelier bloke. And as you can see from his answers he is a funny bloke too.

Update 8/12/18: Dave Johns' new film Fisherman's Friends is released on March 15, 2019.

What is the last thing you do before you go onstage (apart from check your flies and/or check your knickers aren't sticking out of your skirt and check for spinach between your teeth)?

Look behind me to make sure I'm not being followed.

2 What irritates you?

The thing that irritates me most is product placement ads. I hate them. When I see one I get very annoyed and stressed. And when I'm stressed I like to book a weekend of tranquillity in the peaceful surroundings of the Pine Pool Leisure & Health Spa Bournemouth.

3  What is the most dangerous thing you have ever done?

The most dangerous thing I've every done is potholing, I abseiled from the slippery slab at Alum pot when I was 19 years old . Scary but thrilling!

4 What is the most stupid thing you have ever done?

The stupidest thing I've ever done. Bet £1000 on a horse called Chatham ridden by Peter Scudamore...leading by a distance, fell at the last fence at Newcastle race track.. idiot! Both of us

5 What has surprised you the most during your career in comedy?

That you never can tell where things will lead. Never stop swimming keep trying to be good.
And always remember that we are very fortunate to be allowed to do the things we do and make a living from it.
