News: Judges Announced For New Comedy Writing Competition

The three judges have been announced for the first David Nobbs Memorial Trust writing competition, which opens for submissions on 1st January 2017.

Founder of Yellow Door Productions and former head of comedy at Sky and the BBC, Lucy Lumsden (pictured top), seasoned writer and comedian Marcus Brigstocke (middle, image © Andy Hollingworth Archive) and comedian and campaigner Josie Long (bottom) have volunteered their time to support the recently founded charity.

The David Nobbs Memorial Trust has been established by comedy producers, performers and people who knew and loved David, with the blessing of his family, to honour his memory by supporting new comedy writing in the UK.

The contest is aimed at those early in their writing career – but it is not totally ‘open door’. Entrants must be able to provide a broadcast credit for their written material and accompany their entry with a 500-word Statement of Intent, describing their writing career goals. The winner of the £500 first prize will be announced at Craft of Comedy 2017 in Llandudno on 1st April.
