News: Comedian Raises £20,000 For Charity With Tour

Comedian Damian Kingsley has raised over £20,000 for Shelter and Shelter Scotland following his "penniless" tour from Land's End to Edinburgh in which all the proceeds went to charity. He is now writing a book about his experience.

Posting the news on Facebook Kingsley said that this is almost triple the initial target of £7000 that his "Knock Knock" trek was aiming for. "Huge thanks to everyone who helped. I'm not going to mention it much more except that some of you have asked if I managed to capture the journey somehow. When I started in Land's End, I was hoping to film it but the logistics of actually getting the gigs booked and getting from A to B and finding places to stay took up all my time (and energy) so now I'm writing a book. The first two chapters are done and, although the trip was hard and really stressful at times, writing about it is reminding me of what an amazing adventure it was with so many brilliant people who've become good friends. I might even do it again at some point. But in the meantime I need to get back to normal gigs and earn some money for the first time in a while. Thanks again and I'll get in touch with everyone who helped individually as soon as I get a chance."
