News: Dad's Army Gets Animated

BBC Store has released Dad’s Army A Stripe for Frazer, an animated version of a previously missing episode of the much-loved sitcom, not seen since it was first broadcast as part of the original BBC series nearly 47 years ago on 29th March 1969. Watch a clip below.

In this classic episode Captain Mainwaring makes Frazer a Lance Corporal but soon regrets doing so. Newly promoted Frazer vies with Lance Corporal Jones for Mainwaring’s favour and resorts to issuing a series of increasingly bizarre charge sheets to the consternation of Mainwaring and other members of the Platoon.

Today also sees the release of the Best of Dad’s Army on BBC Store. This collection of 10 classic episodes was chosen by fans via BBC Store’s social media accounts and includes some of the most loved escapades of the Walmington on Sea Home Guard including the 1970 Mum’s Army, where Captain Mainwaring invites women to join the platoon and the infamous ‘Don’t Tell Him Pike’ episodeThe Deadly Attachment from 1973.
