News: Janey Godley Heads Scottish Comedy Award Nominations

Janey Godley

Janey Godley has been nominated for four awards in the second Scottish Comedy Awards nominations, announced today. The Glaswegian comedian is up for Best Headliner, Best Compere, Best Podcast (with her daughter Ashley Storrie) and Best Festival/Tour Show.

In other nominations, the Opening Ceremony of the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games is amongst the nominations for Best Event alongside Still Game Live at the Hydro, Eddie Izzard's Scotland Please Don't Go gig and Aye Right How No! a political comedy show at The Stand Glasgow on referendum night. Beyond The Joke has noted that the announcement was made on April 1 and has checked with organiser Alan Anderson who maintains that the nomination "is genuine" and not an April Fools Day stunt.

The Scottish Comedy Awards 2015 awards will take place on Monday 27th April at Glasgow's Blythswood Hotel. Voting is only open to Scottish comedians and those who work in the Scottish Comedy industry. The awards celebrate comedic work in 2014.
