Mark Watson has announced this morning that his planned Comedywealth Games gigs at the Pleasance Theatre in London from next Monday will now not be going ahead. The show, which was due to run from March 9 - 11 and then on March 13 was going to feature guest comedians including Romesh Ranganathan and Paul Sinha taking part in alternative events such as "Fruit-Throwing" and "The Admin Pentathlon”.

Writing on Twitter Watson was extremely apologetic:  "Because of some ongoing issues we've had to postpone Comedywealth Games shows next week. Apologies. I'd never normally do this." He followed up with "We'll do the shows later in the year and either honour tickets then or refund them." and "Sorry again. A few things are currently sub-ideal".

Earlier this week on March 1, following his memorable 27-hour fundraising gig at the same venue for Comic Relief he tweeted "because of something which came to my attention today, last night's was the last ever marathon show. Thank you all." And on March 3 he tweeted: "And thanks for everyone's concern yesterday. I am still working on resolving the issues caused by the show, and we will get there."

Here is a review of the Comedywealth Games when it was performed in Edinburgh last summer.
