House of Fools, penned by and starring Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer, is one of three shows on the shortlist for Best Situation Comedy in the Writers Guild Awards, announced today. The other two nominees are Up The Women, written by Jessica Hynes and Him & Her, written by Stefan Golaszewski.

The nominations for Best Radio Comedy are Helen Keen’s It is Rocket Science (Helen Keen & Miriam Underhill), The Brig Society (Marcus Brigstoke with Jeremy Salsby, Toby Davies, Nick Doody, Dan Tetsell & Steve Punt) and John Finnemore’s Souvenir Programme (John Finnemore).

Steve Coogan is also up for an award – for Best Screenplay for Philomena with co-writer Jeff Pope.

Sandi Toksvig will present the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain annual Awards at RIBA in London, on Monday, 19 January, 2015.

A new series of House of Fools is currently being filmed in Salford and a Christmas special will go out later this month. There will also be more Up The Women, but no more Him & Her.
